2009 ASID Showcase House
Homes built in the mid-century era were designed with the idea of bringing the outdoors in, with seamless indoor/outdoor transitions and open-plan spaces. This mid-century concept was applied to this patio, resulting in a comfortable and stylish outdoor environment that has become the focal point of the adjoining interior spaces, while easily blending the home’s interior with lovely gardens around the exterior. The newly designed outdoor space now features three separate yet cohesive areas:
- A dining area with a unique triangular table, a casual seating area and fireplace with eye-catching “nest” lounge chair.
- The grilling area which features eco-friendly outdoor furniture that is made in Minnesota with 100% recycled materials.
- An additional children’s picnic and play area features eco-friendly furniture designed just for little legs.
The furniture is complimented by durable yet beautiful outdoor fabrics that tie the patio together visually with the ultimate practicality. The mid-century design of this patio features vibrant colors that coordinate with the color palette from the home’s interior; and the open, flexible spaces allow for entertainment and relaxation for every age group.
